Indian National Congress is a major political party in India. It is the largest and the oldest democratic party in the world. The Indian National Congress party was founded in 1885. The party’s headquarters is located at 24, Akbar Road, New Delhi.

Congress formed the Telangana state unit in March 2014, called the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy is the president of the Congress unit in Telangana. RC Kunthia is the AICC secretary and in-charge of Telangana Congress.

Dalit as Telangana CM

Congress party has promised to make a Dalit as the first Chief Minister of Telangana state. The move is seen as a counter to TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao who promised to make a Backward Class leader as first CM of Telangana. If Congress comes to power, Damodar Raja Narasimha, J Geeta Reddy and Sarve Sathyanarayana are all in fray being candidates from Dalit background. 2014 Elections

Congress national leaders including its president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address several public meetings in Telangana in the next few days. Rahul Gandhi will address public meeting in Warangal and Hyderabad on April 25. Congress open to alliances, will think about CM after attaining majority
Congress general secretary and in-charge of AP State Affairs Digvijay Singh said that they would think about candidates for post of Chief Minister only after attaining true majority in the coming Telangana Assembly elections. More over, it is the job of the Congress Legislature Party, he said. Digvijay Singh added that Congress would be open for alliances for the coming elections but the proposals should come from other parties. Congress opposes sharing of Secretariat complex
TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah requested Governor ESL Narasimhan not to locate offices of governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the existing Secretariat complex. He has written to the Governor and suggested existing Secretariat complex and offices of head of departments to be left to government of Telangana.
