Heavy rains cause chaos in Hyderabad

The heavy downpour in Hyderabad claimed three lives. Two persons including a four-month old baby died when the tile roofed house in which they are living collapsed because of the heavy rains. The incident occurred in Singadikunta Basti of Banjara Hills late on Monday. One person died after being electrocuted in Hussaini Alam.

Water logging and power disruptions has caused havoc in the city because of five-hour long heavy uninterrupted rain. Meanwhile, three people died in two separate incidents after they were struck by lightning in Sangareddy district on Monday. Several parts of the Telangana are receiving uninterrupted rains right from early Monday morning till late night. Sources at the IMD Hyderabad say the rains will continue for another 48-hours.

Bad weather situation forced the helicopter in which Minister T Harish Rao was traveling was forced to land at the Hakimpet Air Force Station. He reached home by late by road after having seen diversions of road traffic in several parts of the city.
