High Court stays PG medical fee hike

A Division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Justice C.Kodanda Ram and Justice Balayogi today suspended the operation of the order of Teangana government that had increased the fee for PG medical courses. The stay would be in operational for four weeks.

The bench was granting the interim order in a PIL filed by the Health Care Reform Society and the Osmania Junior Doctors Association. The petitioners brought to the notice of the court that the entrance was conducted in December and now on May 9, the GO was issued. The court was told that the fee under the management quota was Rs.5.80 lakh and now it was Rs.24.20 lakh. The petitioners said that the mandatory requirement of consulting the AFRC headed by a retired High Court Judge was not followed. The bench asked the petitioner to implead all the private medical colleges offering PG medical courses. It may be recalled that Medical colleges fee structure in Telangana State finalized. and was revised on May 3, 2017 PG medical and dental courses fee revised.
