K Taraka Rama Rao
Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao is a MLA representing Sircilla constituency in Karimnagar district. He is a politician of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana. He is popularly called K T Rama Rao or KTR.
Taraka Rama Rao is the Minister for Panchayat Raj, IT, Municipal Administration & Urban Development.
KTR is the son of first Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao. He first became an MLA representing Sircilla assembly constituency in 2009 which he won by a close margin of 172 votes. In the 2010 bye-elections, KTR won with a majority of 68,000 votes.
KTR made his political entry in the 2009 Assembly elections from Sircilla constituency, which he won by 171 votes against TRS rebel candidate KK Mahender Reddy.
KT Rama Rao has three major plans to implement if he gets elected for Sircilla.
- Set up a special textile zone and a mega-powerloom cluster
- The Rs. 7,115 crore Upper Mainar lift irrigation project has already been initiated. The work will be completed within three years
- Set up an ITI to train the youth, especially for the powerloom industry, and will launch a project for women bidi workers.
KT Rama Rao has said that TRS is ready to consider an alliance with Congress in the 2014 elections. If both parties trust each other and respect other, Congress-TRS alliance will be looked into by the Keshava Rao committee, Rama Rao said. Mar 5, 2014
Refuses to react on Jana Sena
Reacting on Pawan Kalyan’s speech at the launch of Jana Sena, Rama Rao said that they are indifferent to what Pawan says or his party does in the context of Telangana. Rama Rao criticized that Pawan exhibited his arrogance and his confusing mind. He refused to react on the party. Mar 14, 2014
Charminar Pedestrianisation Project
KT Rama Rao told the Legislative Assembly that the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project will be completed in the next four to five months. Admitting that there has been a delay in the project, KTR offered to visit the site in person and address the loopholes.
Meets Union Ministers in Delhi
On March 18, 2016, Taraka Rama Rao met Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Technology Minister Ravishankar Prasad separately in Delhi on various issues. He urged Rajnath Singh to amend the AP Reorganisation Act to pave way to increase assembly constituencies from 119 to 153. He requested Arun Jaitley to permit Japan International Cooperation Agency to withdraw Rs 833 crore from the State government account towards the repayment for the current term of the loan borrowed for construction of outer ring road of Hyderabad. He asked Venkaiah Naidu to include Karimnagar in the Smart Cities project. KTR urged Ravishankar Prasad to sanction Rs. 100 crore for second phase of T-Hub and to sanction Rs. 3,000 crore due to the State for implementation of IT Investment Region.
