On March 10, 2016, L Ramana said that the TDP party would move to court challenging the Telangana Speaker S Madhusudana Chary's decision to merge the 12 TDP MLAs defected to TRS in the latter's party. Ramana said that the MLAs defected to TRS were not immune to anti-defection laws because they contemplated that the merger should take place at the behest of the party with resolutions from village, mandal, district and State-level bodies. Individual MLAs cannot seek merger with another party on their own.
