All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, popularly known as MIM or AIMIM, is a political party. It has a strong hold in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

The motive of AIMIM is to be the voice of minorities, weaker sections and Dalits. It believe in the values of secularism. The president of the party is Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi.

The headquarters of the party is at Darussalam in Hyderabad.

AIMIM has been winning every election for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984.


2014 elections

The party has received a number of applications from aspirants seeking party tickets to contest in Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Telangana and Seemandhra. The party sought applications from aspirants. The applicant has to pay Rs. 100 for application and Rs. 3000 as non-refundable deposition for submission of application. The party set March 18 as the deadline. A number of GHMC corporators belonging to MIM have submitted applications hoping that the party would give them chance.

Majlis has been banking on its success in the fields of education and health care. The party has promised more to the community in the days to come.

Worried about the impact of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, MIM leaders and brothers Asaduddin and Akbaruddin have been campaigning extensively against the BJP party. They cautioned the voters no fall prey to the hype of Modi. AIMIM was also worried about its break away group Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT).


The MIM party has won 7 Assembly constituencies and 1 Lok Sabha constituency. With a strength of 7 MLAs, the party has decided to offer its support to TRS government to ensure the development of Hyderabad city.

Support to TRS government

MIM has offered its full support to Telangana Rashtra Samithi for the development of Telangana and Hyderabad city. A four-member delegation of the TRS party met MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi to seek support to the new government. The delegation which met MIM include Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Etela Rajender, KT Rama Rao and T Padma Rao. The TRS hasn’t made any offer to the MIM to join the government.

Will not join government, but would extend issue-based support

MIM party has announced that it will not join the TRS government in Telangana but would support the government on an issue basis. MIM leaders Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi met TRS chief and Chief Minister designate K Chandrasekhar Rao. Asaduddin has submitted a detailed plan for development of Hyderabad at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. He also urged the TRS chief to declare Urdu as official language of Telangana state. Both MIM and TRS leaders have discussed electoral alliance for the coming GHMC elections. May 22, 2014
