Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy
N Uttam Kumar Reddy is the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. He is a MLA representing the Huzurnagar constituency. Uttam Kumar Reddy earlier served as Minister of Housing, Weaker Selection Housing Programme in the united Andhra Pradesh before bifurcation of the Telangana state.
Goutam Kumar Reddy is his brother.
Burnt cash found in car
On April 30, 2014 the police found an abandoned vehicle with burnt cash in the bonnet of the car on the outskirt of Suryapet town in Nalgonda district. According to the police, the vehicle was on its way to Kodad from Hyderabad. The cash was suspected to be kept inside the bonnet and caught fire due to heat. The occupants abandoned the vehicle. Partially burnt notes were found lying above the bonnet of the car above the car and some were found in the back seat of car. The vehicle was bearing a MLA sticker of Uttam Kumar Reddy.
A day after the cash was found, the police sent notices to Uttam Kumar Reddy and Photon Energy Systems, the name of the firm on which the vehicle was registered.
High Court grants stay
Justice R Subhash Reddy of the High Court has granted stay on all further proceedings in the case against Uttam Kumar Reddy and his brother Goutam Kumar Reddy. The brothers have approached the High Court seeking to quash the criminal proceedings initiated against them. They contented that the car which was found belonged to their company. The cash that was found in the car was collected from one of their customers at Mellacheruvu village in Nalgonda district. The brothers contented that the Rs 2 lakh cash was given as advance by the customer for purchasing solar power equipment from their company.
Reacting to the Telangana State Budget 2016-17, Uttam Kumar Reddy termed it disappointing to almost all sections of the society. The budget was presented to the Telangana Legislature on March 14, 2016.
